Brenton, tell us a bit 'you. Who are you? What are you doing? Other hobbies or interests?
Thanks for the chance to have an interview on Ghostbusters Mania! Some of you may know my gbfans screen name of Charlie Richter, which is also the name I have on my flight suit. I’m currently living in the near middle of Australia in a mining town called Kalgoorlie, Where I manufacture mining explosives for the local region and most of the state. Originally from Newcastle on the east coast of Australia, my wife and I moved here almost 5 years ago now. I am just a regular geek, loves cinema, collecting all sorts of cool stuff. When I’m not working I enjoy grabbing a pen and pad and drawing, it’s usually some custom bit of GB gear, or a nasty class 5. Love to sit in front of the TV and get some video game action going on, or if the weather is right head out side and get into the garden. Oh yeah And I collect spors, mould and fungus.

How did your passion for Ghostbusters begin?
Like so many others, I grew up watching the cartoon series. Collecting the toys. I remember I would use our dining table as the firehouse, and the chairs as the upper levels of the Firehouse. Eventually, you lose all the figures and grown up life takes over. But not for long. It would have been around 2003 or 2004 when that concept footage of a futurist Ghostbusters Video Game was leaked online.
My GB interest was on high once again and I found a website called Ghostbusters International. It is there that my GB passion grew it what it is today. From there on I seen The Arizona Ghostbusters doing their charity gigs, and other groups of people making people smile.

I knew I had to give that a go, and get out there. Then I noticed a website that people were using to get all the plans and instructions to actually build Proton Packs and traps and slime blowers and the whole lot! Gbfans.com. I signed up and started on my way to get a full uniform going on.
Fast forward 5 or 6 years and here we are, I’m outfitted with all my Ghostbusting gear, Help create the West Australian Ghostbusters and also looking after the Ghostbusters Australia Facebook page.

Now with all the new Mattel toys and props, The video games, and the talk of a possible third film, Ghostbusters is back our lives in a big way. It’s a great time to be a GhostHead.

We have seen that you have participated in many events. What was your favourite event so far? And why?
The West Australian Ghostbusters have been to a few events now, Mainly a pop culture event called SupaNova. The 2011 Perth Supanova has been my favourite so far, It was great to finally get my Slime Blower out of the Study and into a crowd! The response we get is phenomenal and we can’t wait to do it again this year! Hopefully the more we get out and about the more people we can recruit into the group. Costuming at this level is nothing like it is in the United States, or Europe. Australian teams are slowly popping up with almost one in every state now!

"Here's my (finished?) proton pack with full lights and sound. It has an aluminum motherboard, fiberglass shell, resin thrower and mostly resin trim pieces.

The electronics consist of:
- R2Devo v7 combo light kit
- GBFans sound chip with Crix's breakout board
- 7 watt amplifier
- 4" speaker mounted inside the N-filter (for built-in sound venting)

The Booster Tube houses 2 battery packs. One 12v pack of 8AA batteries (for the light kit and amplifier) and one 3v pack of 2AA batteries (for the sound chip).

I've wired it so I can run just lights only (to increase battery life), or I can run full lights and sound. The volume is adjustable from the pot exposed between the motherboard and alice frame.

For some reason, when I power up the sound system, it plays a sound... I need to figure a way to make this not happen (or I'll have to wire up a button to just play the VG shutdown sound or something to kill sound after I turn the system on).

Nick, Tell us a bit about you. Who are you? What are you doing? What are your other hobbies and interests?
First of all let me say that it's an honor to be interviewed for Ghostbusters Mania. Although I've only been an "official" franchise member for a few months now, I've been associated with The Dallas Ghostbusters for the past four years or so. My current interests include creating artwork and various forms of fan fiction for both my franchise and the Ghostbusters universe in general. I'm also a dedicated father to a beautiful 7 year old autistic daughter. She is very much like her daddy and shares his love for Ghostbusters. Besides GB, I'm also a huge fan of Back to the Future, Star Trek TOS, Star Wars, Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles, 80s Horror films, and the list goes on and on. Basically, anything that has inspired me can be traced back to television or cinema. Those are the roots of my many passions.

Where does your passion for Ghostbusters come from?
I remember the films and the cartoon having a huge impact on me when I was a kid. I had lots and lots of Ghostbusters toys. I had all the equipment, figures, playsets, vehicles, plushes, you name it, I probably had it. Sadly these treasured collectibles were all lost over time as I grew older. It wasn't until I had first discovered Ghostbusters International in 2008 that my interest in Ghostbusters was reignighted.

When and why did you start building your GB uniform, equipment and props?
Within months after first discovering the GB web community I was already putting together my uniform. My mind was completely blown by the fact that there were actual franchises with uniforms and equipment and that I could actually be a part of it all. It was a childhood dream come true. My very first prop builds were my belt gizmo made from an original Game Boy circuit board, and my Ecto Goggles built from welding goggles and various Home Depot parts.

We have seen that you have participated in several events. What was your favorite event so far and why?
I would have to say for now that my favorite event would have to be the midnight release of Ghostbusters: The Video Game in Lewisville, TX in 2009. The screen used Ecto-1 was there and I actually got to touch it. It was an amazing experience to say the least.

What does it mean for you to be a Ghosthead?
To me it means expressing my passion for one of the many things that has impacted my life in a positive way, and sharing that passion through my own creativity.

What makes your franchise unique?
We are a team of talented and dedicated individuals determined to rise above the negativity of others and bring this franchise to new heights. We all have our own franchise related projects we are working on. I myself am working on bringing to life a comic/short story series featuring our franchise and artwork by me inspired by Dapper Dan Schoening.

What are your plans for 2012?
I hope to begin construction on what will be my very first proton pack! It is my rite or passage as a Ghostbuster, after all. Thanks so much for this interview again, and remember... We're the best, We're the beautiful, We're the ONLY Dallas Ghostbusters!

My name is Monyka Igielski, and I have been a member of the Arizona Ghostbusters for just over a year and a half. Until just recently, I have worked as a PC/ audio visual technician for over 12 years. In a few weeks I will be going back to school to earn a degree in computer science. Yes, I am a nerd, but also a proud geek as well. I love learning new things. With prop making, I have learned quit a few new skills. Everything from screen printing, to Ardunio tinkering, to styrene building, to resin molding and next up, WELDING!

Where did your love for Ghostbusters come from?
I was a big fan of the cartoon first, then the movies. I was into Care Bears and Pound Puppies as well, but Ghostbusters was something else. I think I was the only girl running around with a toy proton pack, back in the day. I even had the trap! *Sigh* I have no idea whatever happened to them, but my mom did save my 6 inch figures from RGB. I almost cried. I was so happy. When and why did you start building your GB uniform and equipment?
I started to put together my uniform, before I even heard back from our Captain, Jeff Lewis. I had seen the Arizona Ghostbusters at the 2010 Phoenix Comic Con. I just remember seeing the booth and telling my boyfriend, at the time, that I would be right back and I RAN! I knew, whatever they were about, I wanted to be part of it. It just so happened, around that time, I had been thinking about helping out my community, but I didn't know what I should do. It was serendipity!

Arizona Ghostbusters do a lot of charity events. Tell us about this and your experience.
Very true, we as a group, have at least one event a month. October, you could say, is one of our busiest months of the year. With charity walks and events, we also have this little holiday called, Halloween that many people love to celebrate. The Zombie Walk for this year (2011) was a blast. With 4000+ people dressed as zombies was a sight! It is because of events like this, we were able to bring in over 1500+ pounds of canned food for our local food bank!

We see that you've participated in many events. What's been your favorite event so far? And why?

That is really, really tough. Don't get me wrong, 2011 Phoenix Comic Con was a blast. Mr. Ernie Hudson and Mr. William Atherton were wonderful. A few short weeks later I was able to meet with Mr. Dan Aykroyd at a Crystal Head event. The Zombie Walk and of course the Fiesta Bowl Parade were fun, but it is when I have the opportunity to give toys to kids who can't make it home for Christmas... that is one of my favorite and most difficult things to do.

Childrenís Cancer Network

We as a group were able to collect toys for the Childrenís Cancer Network, but only a couple of us could actually go and deliver them. I know I am not going to cure cancer. I know I am not a super hero. To be able to make a kid, who is connected to several different machines, who doesn't have hair, and whose parents haven't slept in days, smile and laugh, playing with something I brought in for them, makes dressing up as ghostbuster, worth it!

What does the term "Ghosthead" mean to you?
The term "Ghosthead" to me is someone who is completely hardcore in the prop making side of things. Am I a "Ghosthead"? Yes and no. I loved making my packs. I love looking into the details and figuring out ways on how to make a pack look the part, but not cost an arm and a leg. Please understand I would LOVE to have the most accurate pack out there. I read the forums. I take notes. I just don't NEED a super accurate pack to volunteer as an Arizona Ghostbuster. When I am walking 3 miles for MS in 80 degree weather, no one is going to say, "Hey where did you get your light hats?" Or when I am doing a toy drive, no one is going to say, "Why do you have a GB1 crank knob, when you have a GB2 ribbon cable?" For me, I am a volunteer first and ghostbuster second!

Plans for the 2012?
We are going to have a mini break in January, but we will start to pick up soon after. We are working on plans for 2012 Phoenix Comic Con. We also have a couple of new rookies that need some training. We are still trying to set up a Northern Arizona firehouse. More props are in the works. Our Tucson guys are getting busy as well. This is going to be a great year!

A few weeks ago, due to the release of the new upcoming Ghostbusters comics by IDW, Luis Antonio Delgado (colors) kindly granted this interview.

Jorge Tovalin: Sometimes the coloring work on the comics aren't that recognized, what do you think about it?

Luis Antonio Delgado: It's understandable. Once I read an interview on ComicBookResources.com about a colorist who says our job is like the music on a movie. The movie can make it without the music, but this one helps to climate the environment and sometimes it's even so important like in Jaws and Psicosis. That's our job.

JT: How did you got into the comic industry?

LAD: It's a funny story. I was studying graphic design at the University, and one day my dad found and wrote down a phone number of a Animation School he saw on an ad. He gave it to me and never mind it. When I finished my studies, my dad asked me to give a call to that school, not very interested, I did, and found out the school was closed to business, but they gave me the phone number of the teacher.

The teacher was Raúl Cruz (a.k.a. Racrufi), famous artist. Talked with him and he invited me to his workshop. He got interested on my portfolios and granted to give me lessons twice days a week. There I learned to use watercolors, acrylics, and time later started to work with digital coloring.

I never was a color artist, only used graphites and inks. Never liked watercolors or color pencils, used only Illustrator to give color to my work. But Raúl teached me everything.

JT: What happened later?

LAD: He recommended me to attend that San Diego Comic-Con, he used to get some work there before, and encourage me to go and do the same. So I went to the SDCC on 2007 and arrived the Portfolios area (it was a complet chaos!). Get a job there is practically impossible. I was shocked, feeling like a tiny ant between thousands of people looking for a job into the comic industry.

I went out the first day totally depressed, didn't want to come back the next day, but they would screen that Superman Doomsday movie so I went. Suddenly a guy approached me and asked me if I could speak spanish. I said yes, and he asked me to help him with another mexican who didn't speak any english. I was "whatever, let's go.". The guy was Ricardo Sánchez, from Toluca (Mex), comic artist.

I helped him and there I met Tom Waltz, IDW editor, nice guy who wanted to watch my portfolios but had no time, but asked me to send it to him when I was back on Mexico. So, when I was on Mexico I sent him my portfolios and a couple of months ago he told me I had work to do: Gene Simmon's House of Horrors, 12 pages penciled by Ricardo Sánchez.

He really liked my work and offered me the first mini-series of 5 issues. I was so excited about this. After that, I got no work in about a year. That was a hard year to me, doing storyboards and some illustrations to survive. But then Tom started sending me some work, until 2010 that I got the Ghostbusters Con-volution! comic. The next year got the Halloween issue "What in Samhain just happened?", the first with Dan Schoening as penciler and Peter David as writer.

Working with Dan is hard, cause he's the kind of guys that if he forgot to draw a flower in a corner, asks for doing it for him, no matter the drawing is cropped and the flower won't made it at the end. He's too obsessive with his work, but he told me he won't be able to finish the whole artwork by himself, so asked me if I wanted to work with him. Sent me an exercise, I did it and he loved it.

After that Halloween special, I worked on a couple of issues of Star Trek: Infestation and I was offered a Duke Nukem miniseries. I also worked for a small company called Commited Comics, for a project called God Among Men.

The next month they offered me to work on the Ghostbusters ongoing comics, the first issue (20,000 copies) got sold out, going for a 2nd printing. Eric Burnham (writer of Infestation) write this one, with Dan Schoening on pencils. Dan is a geniuos and draws fast as hell.

The story happens a few years after Ghostbusters 2 events. If you're a real Ghostbusters fan you'll love it. The man in gray battle a new entity, a minion Gozer sent. There you'll find that Ray has a odd connection with Gozer.

JT: What do you love the most working on Ghostbusters comics?

LAD: What can I say? I really like the comic, I always had been a Ghostbusters fan, though I didn't watched the movie at the theaters because I wasn't born by then, but loved the cartoons, the marshmallows man always was my fave character, I had all the action figures and the Ecto-1 vehicle. Being a comic based on a movie, people could be prejudiced with the characters and said "Egon wouldn't do this, Ray wouldn't do that", but fortunately the audience has accepted our work with the Ghostbusters. I enjoy working with colors I would never use on other comics.

JT: Who's your favorite Ghostbuster?

LAD: Always liked Peter, big fan since I was a kid. I think we all love him cause he's the daring one, the guy who keeps the girl at the end, and we all wanna be like him. But now that I grew up, my fave one is Ray, cause he's a big boy, just like me, people use to say I'm a 28 years old little kid. The Ray faces Dan draws are great, with an eyebrow here and the other there.

JT: How is it working with IDW?

LAD: My experience has been good, very positive, everybody there respect your work, deadlines and payments. The manager has as rule to never publish a comic if any of the artist involved hasn't got his payment. DC and Marvel take a long time to pay, but not IDW. Besides they gave me total acces to their server, to upload my artwork. It's available 24/7, cause I work with people from Australia and England.

JT: Do you have your own plans for the future?

LAD: Besides working on the Ghostbusters comics, I want to keep on working with IDW and other publishers. I could work with DC on some character I don't have interest on, but I really enjoy working with Ghostbusters, cause I'm a big fan. Working with Dan it's fabulous, cause every time I get a page from him, my first reaction is: "Wow!" and then "Damn!" cause I have a to work on it. (laughs)

I'm very meticulous coloring Ghostbusters, I work freehand on it, I don't like go selecting areas. If a line goes wrong, I redo it as much as neccessary until it gets right. That's why I'm working even 15 hour the day. So going to bed 3 a.m. it's becoming an habit. The last Ghostbusters cover got finished at 4 a.m., and 4 hours later, I was out of bed ready to keep working.

JT: So it's a lonely work...

LAD: Yes it is, but I'm a person who can work that way. Some times I think of myself as a little kid, can get distracted easily, so if I work in an office with other people, I could waste the entire day distracting me. I need to be alone to work.

"My nephew who is now 11 is crazy about Ghostbuster I am really not sure where he gets it, because the last time I knew this film was back in 1984 and the second shortly after that and the real ghostbusters cartoon has not been around for years. But Dalton is consumed with GB so much so he ask me to build him A proton pack in 2010 going by the plans on GB board we worked 2 months getting this pack to the way he, my nephew wanted it. The pack has working lights and sounds and not sure about the slimer green canister, I dont remember that in the movie but that is what he wanted. The next year in 2011 we ,my wife and I built him his own Ecto 1 again not movie accurate but what he wanted with slimmer green waste hoses instead of blue. He also got the Matty PKE Metor and the Matty ghost trap for xmas, the kid sleeps with them. I thought it was A faze but I think he is turning into a real Ghostbuster."

Franchise: Arizona Ghostbusters In Fiesta Bowl Parade

On Saturday December 31st, 2011, the Arizona Ghostbusters made their 4th appearance in the 41st Annual Fiesta Bowl Parade in downtown Phoenix. 14 busters walked alongside the Ecto-AZ down Central Ave in Phoenix with an estimated crowd of 100,000 spectators. The weather was clear and an unseasonably warm 74 degrees. The parade was broadcast live on local channel ABC 15. It was an excellent end to 2011.

Charities: AZ Ghostbusters Children's Hospital Visit Recap 12/21/11

On Wednesday, December 21st, 2011, the Arizona Ghostbusters made their third annual visit to Phoenix Children's Hospital and Cardon Children's Medical Center to deliver the toys collected from the Samurai Comics Toy Drive on December 10th. At each hospital the toys were set up for the children and parents to come in and pick from. Our first stop was the outpatient wing of Phoenix Children's Hospital. In the afternoon we set up at the Oncology unit at Cardon Children's Medical Center.

While it is one of the hardest things we do each year, it is also one of the most enjoyable. We saw some children that were there last year as well, but they're still just as bright and strong. We are very honored we were able to brighten the holidays for these children, if even for just a moment and are already looking forward to next year.

Vincent, tell us a bit 'you. Who are you? What are you doing? Other hobbies or interests?
First of all, thanks to GBMania for their great website !

I'm Vincent, some fans know me by the nickname of "ecto80" or "Vinz" (according to forums Ghostbusters) I live in north of France and I was born in 1991.
My favourite movie is Ghostbusters for sure , but also by a large majority of fantasy / adventure movies ofthe 80's!
I realize with a friend, a series of documentaries about this movies: Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Gremlins, Beetlejuice, the Goonie, Indiana Jones ect... series called "Blastfromthe'80 s" is not yet done but for now you would find a teaser on our site and also information on the project.

How does this passion for Ghostbusters?
In a first time, I discovered the two movies on VHS (I can't remember the year exactly, because I was too young), after, I discovered Extreme Ghostbusters and the Real Ghostbuster through a VHS that I found at a flea market.

The universe of Ghostbusters has always fascinated me since my childhood, I watched the movie many many times when I was at my grandmother! I remember that I played with my neighborhood buddies at GB!

In my childhood , I dreamed many time about Ghostbusters, and now it a big passion.

When and why did you start building your uniform GB and the equipment and props?
I started to collect all the pieces of uniform of GB2 in December 2010 , because I saw all my friends of the forum get a GB uniform, and it made me really want!

After that, I built my proton pack in May 2011 with light kits and many accurate parts of proton pack. A hard work of three month.
Last month, I decided to take the classic "grey" khaki uniform.

We have seen that you have participated in many events. What is was your favorite event so far? And why?
My favorite event is the 26th and 27th November for the convention "Toulouse Game Show" where he was guest of honor Ernie Hudson!
This was a great moment for me and the team of GBF! Ernie was very honored to be recieved by French fans with all the equipement!

What does this mean for you to be a Ghosthead? And what makes your franchise GBF?
I've always dreamed of being a ghost buSter, and every time I put on my uniform, I feel to be one of them!
There had never had a French franchise about Ghostbusters until we created, me and the other founders, Ghostbusters France, 2 months ago.
We decided to create it so that all the French fans can have their "elite" like the United States, Italy or England, and this funny and interseting for the conventions and rallys.
It's always cool to see some people smiling with us , because it's reminds the Ghostbusters.

Interview with the spectacular Johnson family!

You are all fans of Ghostbusters?
Yes we are. The kids are 8 and 5 and have already seen the movies multiple times. My wife and I, of course grew up with it.

Acted very well, are you all actors?
Thanks. We are not actors but we try our best.

How did the idea of family films come about?
Each year we make a family film (usually a spoof of a movie classic). We then debut the final product at my son's birthday party in early December. We have a lot of fun making them and it's great to go back and watch the older videos. In the past we've done: Star Wars, Superman, Tinker Bell, and Indiana Jones. It's a enjoyable way to document our lives and more entertaining than watching hours of home videos.

How many days long was the shooting of the film?
We only shoot in short bursts (an hour at a time). We started shooting in July and wrapped up production in November. It's guerrilla filmmaking. We shoot fast and furious. The trick to this kind of filmmaking is PRE-PRODUCTION. Everything is written, scripted, and storyboarded before the camera ever comes out. The storyboards are the road map and we stick to it as much as possible. For Ghostbusters!, we shot most of the exteriors first since we live and Wisconsin (and the weather is nice in July). Then when fall rolls around, we tackled all the interiors. If I would have known it would get this kind of attention, I would have spent more time on it!

Can you tell us what software you used for special effects?
The movie was entirely edited and composited in Adobe After Effects. The Marshmallow Man was built and animated in Carrara. All the sound editing was done in Apple's Garageband. Most of the special effects you see are thanks to After Effects.

Have any other plans?
Funny, everyone asks that! I had a treatment written for our version of Back to the Future. We'll see. The next family movie won't begin production until next summer (when the weather is nice again).
